Prose & Cons:Obesity

Is fast food to blame for obesity in America? Yes and no, II mean fast food companies aren't shoving their food down our throats! We make the choice in whether or not to eat fast food. Fast food places make their food looking so appealing on commercials  and to make things worse they sell it for cheap prices which make it so hard not to eat fast food.  They persuade you to buy their food and of course we give in because it looks so delicious with such a reasonable price.

The choices we make affect us day to day, and one of them is our food choices. If you decide to make the choice to eat fast food on a day to day basis you shouldnt be surprised if you gain weight or feel unhealthy. You cant blame the company for making you obese, I'm more than positive that you know what you are consuming but I do agree that the things that they do put in their food is quite disgusting. And that is one major thing they should change about fast food is what they put in their product.

One thing I dont get is why do they have to put all these disgusting things into the food at fast food places? I believe that you can still make food taste great without all those gross ingredients that are unhealthy for our body. Companies like Mcdonalds, Wendy's, Burger King etc. should brainstorm ideas not just to make their food to taste great but also making their food way healthier for people to eat.

Over all we cant put all the blame on fast food companies for the increase of obesity because we are the people who are choosing to eat it! We make the unhealthy decision to eat a Big Mac with extra cheese they arent shoving it down our throats we are!

Text Analysis #1

Hooray! America isnt considered the worlds fattest developed nation anymore, Mexico is! Nearly 32.8 percent of Mexico's population is obese compared to Americas 31.8 percent. According to statistics countries that are malnourished are the ones that are becoming obese, because of Mexicos urban lifestyle and malnourishment makes it an unhealthy lifestyle. Its quite shocking how the environment we live in can affect the way we eat. I learned that about 12 percent of the worlds population is obese, it the food choices we make can really effect our lifestyle and that exercising should be a big part of our lives to prevent obesity and diabetes.

My Opinion isnt (A) Right

Here are some of the notes i took on the Socratic seminar on "Right to your Opinion":

  • An argument should be between two people to verify whats true
  • Some people use an opinion in a wrong way
  • In order to validate your opinion you need to support it
  • Reasoning behind your opinion
  • Big people make little peoples opinions seem small
  • You have right to life
  • Interdependence-you depend on others
  • How can you participate in a conversation without a goal?
  • Limbic-part of the brain causes the human person to be either intellectual or mediocre

Reflections on Week 1

 1) Are there any factors that you think are going to affect your participation or experience in this class? Access to a computer?Mobile/ Smart phone? Transportation? Schedule?

Well im not really used to this blog thing we have to do but im hoping that i get a great learning experience from this blog and begin to love it! For me procrastination is a little bit of a problem for me but i can tell in this class there isnt much time for that so i need to be able to get my head in the game and not try to put things aside for the last minute. Right now i dont have access to a computer but im trying my best too but the good thing is that i do have a smart phone. I am planning to try and get a job but my education is my main priority right now and if a job does interfere with my school work i will have to put it aside

2) Think of an awesome best learning experience that changed you. What did you learn? Where were you? What happened? Who else was there? Did it teach you anything about how you learn(or pay attention...or remember or think?) How did you know what was happening?

This summer i had an awesome learning experience that i thought id never get which is working with a doctor to see if its truly what i want to become. It truly was amazing and i loved every second of it! The doctor gave me tips and showed me so much, i was so lucky to work with an absolute amazing doctor like him! You could tell he loved his job and had so much drive and ever since working with him i came to realized that the medical field is the field that is made for me. I got to see patients with the doctor which was the best part because i dont know why but i just loved it. It was a great experience!

3) What are you most [excited/concerned] about in this class? What do you look forward to in learning? How do you think it can/will make a practical difference in your life?

What im most excited about in this class is the chance to improve on my writing. Im really looking forward to learning is what really makes an essay interesting and appealing to the reader. I think that if i do learn these things it will really help me on the personal statement for college

What is Expository Composition?

After some research i came to learn that expository composition is a type of writing that is used to explain, describe, give information or inform. I truly think that expository composition is to demonstrate  your learning on a certain topic.

It's all Latin to me

The quote "dimidium facti qui coepit habet: saprere aude, incipe" means who has begun has half done : dare to be wise. To me this quote means that why give up on something that you have already started  be strong and be able to push through! Its mind over matter! And i also think that it means to be wise on the choices you make.

My Big Question!

After reading a book called Looking For Alaska by John Green i came to a question : How will you ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering?
